Brookfield Multiplex

Fiona Stanley Hospital - WA, Australasia

As a flagship health facility for Western Australia and the largest design and construct project that Brookfield Multiplex has undertaken, the $2 billion Fiona Stanley hospital casts a wide net – servicing communities south of Perth and across the state.

With completion scheduled for December 2013, the tertiary hospital represents the Western Australian government’s largest ever building infrastructure project. It provides for 783 beds and a range of acute medical and surgical services as the state’s major treatment centre for trauma and burns.

The landmark design houses a comprehensive cancer centre, including radiotherapy treatment facilities, medical oncology and haematology, renal transplantation and dialysis, paediatric, obstetric and neonatal services, a full array of medical and surgical services, and extensive radiology services including MRI, CT and PET/CT. A medical research facility built for the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research will also be co-located on site, along with a 140-bed State rehabilitation service.

Embracing a ‘One Team’ approach to facilitate and nurture a collaborative working environment is the key to success in governing and executing this large scale project.

Brookfield Multiplex has put together a comprehensive team of project personnel with backgrounds in health and major works and established an on-site design team operating from a shared office. The team’s capability to advise the client in key areas where issues remain unresolved or may arise in future, effectively ‘future-proofing’ the facility, is essential in project risk minimisation and a smooth development process.

Brookfield Multiplex and the State Government are collaboratively leading Western Australia’s health care renewal process in establishing a world class medical, research and education facility that will sustain generations to come.
