The Brookfield Multiplex Teams in NSW, QLD and in WA have spent the months leading up to Christmas collecting canned goods, wrapping presents and raising money by selling raffle tickets for the annual Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.
In NSW the team donated $11,000 to The Salvation Army and in Western Australia and Queensland the teams donated truck loads of canned goods, individually wrapped presents and made financial contributions.
When accepting the cheque from Brookfield Multiplex in NSW, Salvation Army Captain Paul Moulds explained how these funds would provide immediate help. “They will be used to purchase food to stock the empty kitchens of recently built accommodation for the homeless in Cairns and to provide Christmas Trees to place in each new dwelling,” he said.
The donations received in Perth were also eagerly accepted and used to complete food hampers for an unprecedented number of families in the area without food over Christmas.
This year, The Salvation Army expects to assist more than 350,000 people across Australia in both metropolitan and rural areas during December through distributing more than $20 million worth of food vouchers, hampers and toys to people in need.
