BM MEA were recently awarded the design and construct contract for the Standard Chartered Tower in Downtown Burj Khalifa, Dubai. Responsible for the shell and core construction as well as the fit out for Standard Chartered Bank on levels 10-17 this 18 storey Grade A office tower is designed to achieve a LEED Gold Rating making it only one of a handful in the UAE with this rating. BM will also develop a Sustainability Communication Plan for all tenants to ensure that sustainable objectives are adhered to during the fitout process on other floors.
The tower’s design incorporates a high performance façade and the use of sustainable materials. The building will also reduce waste, energy and water use through efficient elevator and escalator systems, lighting controls, solar hot water, greywater systems and use of a community district cooling system rather than reliance on an individual building system. An ambitious target of 50% waste diverted from landfill has also been set.
